I happened to notice these two books on the shelf today and immediately went down the time trail. I read A Thousand Splendid Suns when I was in my 10th standard and my heart went out to Mariam. Much later, I read The Kite Runner and I was equally moved by Amir and Hassan's story. It is more fast-paced than the former one and highlighted the themes of guilt and redemption. It clearly showed me that people are not black and white. They are grey. It taught me that good people are also capable of dark deeds but that does not necessarily make them evil. -Tanisha
