Peter Lambert went through a traumatic experience as a result of which he is suffering from Amnesia Retrogate. The loss of memory associated with this disease is pathetically described as he struggles to connect the dots in his life to pull out a historical background of himself to make sense of his existence. This struggle of his, along with a thorough attempt to identify the criminal behind this makes up the plot of this psychological thriller.
What adds to this intriguing plot is the documentation of some triggering violence by an apparently sadist person. Moreover, the portrayal of this dark and aggressive world in the form of a screenplay by someone called Goodman enriches the reading experience.
Although all these elements might contribute to a complexity in the structure of the novel, it is this very tension of detangling the knots that provides the suspenseful experience of a good thriller. If you're a thriller lover and of you can withstand gory descriptions and abominable crimes, do pick this up for an intense read.
